2014 is shaping up to be another busy one for Little Carrot Productions!
Post Woodford Festival, Bec returned to continue preparation for Joondalup Festival, coordinating 18 workshops over 5 weeks to create 500 lanterns with local school children. She was joined by fellow artist and friend, Lewis Horne who joined her for the duration of all the workshops and the building of a 7 metre whaleshark lantern puppet for the parade.
April rolled on and Bec found herself spraying birdcages and plastic toys with fluro paint in her backyard. These became decorations for ‘Seed box’, a chill out space at youth precinct Youthopia, part of Fairbidge Festival.
She also found herself taking on a new role for the festival, managing the Youth Art Space as well as running her own lantern making workshops.
May suddenly was upon us and Bec began construction on a sculpture for WA Day celebrations. Bec and co-pilot Nat Niv built a frame that spells ‘i heart wa’. Children and adults will be invited to write what they love about WA on a piece of their favourite colour fabric and tie it onto the frame. After the festivities, it will be installed in the WA Museum and become an ongoing project.
The second half of the year is starting to look full with a trip to Lismore, a Bunbury residence and Far North Queensland on the cards..
